Data Protection & StratePlan

Your trade secrets remain yours.

StratePlan does not require project descriptions, product names or strategic background information to mathematically optimise complex investment decisions.

The optimisation engine works exclusively with the mathematical structure of a decision.

This means that anything not required for the calculation does not need to leave your organisation.

Only the data required for the calculation

For the purposes of optimisation, projects are represented exclusively by unique project IDs. Depending on the use case, the parameters required for the decision can be linked to these, for example:

  • Project ID
  • Investment costs and expenditure
  • Revenue, cash flows or other target metrics
  • Budget and resource constraints
  • Dependencies between projects
  • Time constraints
  • Risk and success parameters
  • Further mathematically defined constraints

Project name, project description, product information, strategic background, internal documents or other contextual information are generally not required for mathematical optimisation.

The mapping between a project ID and the actual project can remain entirely with the client.

Additional protection for sensitive financial metrics

If absolute financial or corporate metrics are not to be transmitted, suitable numerical values can be mathematically transformed or scaled on the customer’s side.

For this purpose, a customer-specific scaling factor can be used, for example.

Example before transformation:

Project 4711
Investment: 10 million EUR
Contribution to profit: 15 million EUR

After an illustrative transformation:

Project 4711
Investment: 73.84
Contribution to profit: 110.76

The underlying scaling factor remains with the client.

StratePlan does not require the absolute scale of suitable key figures, provided that the mathematical relationships and constraints necessary for the respective optimisation model are consistently maintained.

The key remains with the customer

The factor used for such scaling is not transmitted to mAInthink.

StratePlan processes the transformed values and returns the mathematical optimisation result based on these. The reverse transformation of suitable result values can then be carried out on the customer’s side.

This allows real project names and – with appropriate modelling – absolute original values to be separated from the actual optimisation process.

Important: Such mathematical scaling is not cryptographic encryption. It is an additional measure for data minimisation and the masking of sensitive metrics.

Three levels of protection for sensitive decision-making data

1. Data minimisation

StratePlan processes only the data required for the respective mathematical optimisation.

2. Pseudonymisation

Projects can be represented exclusively by IDs. The mapping between the ID and the actual project remains with the client.

3. Numerical Masking

Appropriate sensitive metrics can also be mathematically transformed at the client’s end. mAInthink does not need to know the scaling factor used for this.

StratePlan optimises the decision – not the knowledge about your company.

For combinatorial optimisation, the key factors are the mathematical properties, constraints and dependencies that exist between the decision options.

StratePlan does not, in principle, need to know whether a project ID refers to a new production facility, a machine, an infrastructure investment, a transformation programme or any other strategic investment.

Your projects remain yours.
Your business context remains yours.

Enterprise Deployment

Depending on security, data protection and compliance requirements, StratePlan can be deployed in various operating models.

In addition to the online service, appropriate cloud or on-premises architectures can be provided for enterprise applications.

This allows the technical architecture to be adapted to the respective requirements of IT security, data protection, compliance and corporate governance.

The basic idea is simple

We do not require your trade secrets. We need the mathematical structure of your decision.

Project IDs. Key figures. Constraints. Dependencies.

StratePlan then searches the combinatorial decision space and identifies the mathematically optimal project or investment combination under the defined conditions.

Client confidentiality is maintained.
StratePlan takes care of the maths.
