ERP integration

From system of record to decision-oriented supplement

ERP systems such as SAP® Software, Microsoft Dynamics®-Applications, Oracle® Software, Workday® Applications, IFS® Solutions (*) and comparable solutions from other providers form the operational backbone of many organizations. They capture and structure transaction data on finances, projects, budgets, resources, cash flows and forecasts and thus serve as a reliable system of record.

ERP solutions are typically geared towards operational processes, accounting and reporting. The level of further analysis and decision-making functions can vary depending on the modules, configurations and extensions used.

This is precisely where StratePlan comes in.

Transferring ERP data into a formal decision model

StratePlan uses structured ERP data as the basis for a mathematically defined portfolio analysis. Relevant information - in particular on investment and operating costs, budget limits, capacity restrictions, Project dependencies, strategic targets and multi-period cash flows - are converted into a formally described decision model.

Objectives and constraints are explicitly defined and documented as decision parameters. A computer-aided portfolio combination is determined on this basis, which enables a target-oriented and model-consistent basis for decision-making within the modeled restrictions.

The result is not an additional reporting dashboard, but a comprehensibly derived, model-based decision-making basis for prioritized and budget-compliant portfolios.

Technical integration

  • API- or ETL-based data connection
  • No changes to existing ERP transaction logic required
  • Documented model assumptions and decision parameters
  • Cloud or on-premise operation possible

The ERP system remains the leading system for operational postings and data management StratePlan supplements this structure with an analytical optimization layer, which evaluates decision alternatives based on models and documents them transparently.

Typical fields of application

  • CapEx and investment portfolios
  • IT and transformation programs
  • R&D and innovation budgets
  • Restructuring and consolidation scenarios

If you want to derive a reliable and implementation-oriented portfolio decision from existing ERP data, we will show you in a compact demo how to turn an existing project portfolio a consistently modelled and prioritized portfolio can be developed.
